Sophia Russell-Cobb is the owner of Pangbourne House. She has had over 30 years experience working with children and running Ladbroke Square Montessori School. Her ambition has always been to set up her own school which would reflect the Montessori method and also place a strong emphasis on creativity.
Sophia believes that, in a modern technical world, children are being increasingly exposed to screen activities. They are given less time to communicate with each other through creative activities. The important development of compassion and empathy towards other human beings is not enhanced by this technical ‘know- how’. She aims to develop an environment where children can explore and experiment and work together with artistic and creative endeavours of their own, while at the same time gaining an understanding of warm fellowship and community awareness.
Sophia is a qualified Montessori teacher, and has a certificate in counselling, a degree in education and has trained at the Institute of Arts and Therapy.
Managing this new project with Sophia will be Olivia Hoare and Ana Aranha.
Olivia comes from a creative background. She has trained at the Institute of Arts and Therapy and is an experienced Montessori teacher. She will be in charge of creativity at Pangbourne House.
Ana Aranha is a qualified teacher who has three children of her own. She has been managing all the administration of a Montessori school for the past three years, and will be in charge of the smooth running of Pangbourne House.
